Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Laura Sullivan was born and raised from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam, her mother was an old backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, of age, her dad landed an appointment as the curator at Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the historic landmark. The 2005 graduate of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was an instructor of vocal music. Sullivan began singing in the children's chorus as a contralto, later she joined the adult choir a few years afterwards. Sullivan was not exposed to secular music. She recalls when she was 11 when someone was requesting her to sing for solos at church. However, she was not fully ready. At that time, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I was able to perform "Accept What God Allows" on the show Showtime At the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. In the year 13 she sang along with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan was the first to sign her contract with Jive Records when she was fifteen. At the age of 15, she was signed to Jive Records. The label recorded an entire album in Jive Records and then it wasn't made available for release. Sullivan was then eliminated from the record label. Missy Elliott was her producer for a few tracks from Her debut album. One of them was "Backstabbers" the buzz track produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
